Abstract
This essay shares a series of reflections on the importance of the participation of women, most of them heads of families, in citizen participation programs of a popular housing subdivision in the city of Aguascalientes, based on the evaluation that was carry out of their actions and how they impacted the quality of life of all both participants and the community. The four dimensions evaluated were i) the population profile, ii) self-perception of quality of life, iii) infrastructure and public services, iv) citizen participation. The conclusions show how the involvement of women in municipal administration programs through the figure of the Citizen Attention and Participation Committee is decisive in improving their self-perception of the quality of life, mainly due to the feeling of achievement that it provides them, as well as their own perception of the positive influence they exert among their neighbors and the way in which they contribute to solving community problems. It closes by suggesting a social education program where the participation of the Social Work professional as the leader of community projects promoted by the public administration, promotes the development of new civic capacities with a view to a society that every day deepens and complicates its social participation.Downloads
