De pandillas a 'cricosos': (in)seguridad y relaciones juveniles a través de dos generaciones en un barrio violento de Guadalajara
Abstract
This article focuses on the results of an investigation regarding the experiences of two generations of youth in a Guadalajara neighborhood known for high rates of violent crime. Based on data collected between March 2020 and August 2021, we explore the memories, social imaginaries and experiences of men in two age groups,18 to 23 and 40 to 45, whom we identify as the third and second generation, in relation to the foundersof the neighborhood. Considering the association between youth and insecurity, we analyze historical time and social change, through an intergenerational approach. Of particular interest are youth interrelationships in the neighborhood, as well as notions of (in)security and relations with the police. The study revealed several changes in the ways in which youth interact with their neighborhood, as well as some consistent characteristics attributed to endoculturation from fathers who grew up in the same neighborhood.Downloads
