Abstract

In the present work, the results of a research carried out on university academics to detect the effects on their health due to the multiple functions they develop in their academic context and in their personal life are presented. The education is an important tool to transform individuals and communities, therefore the responsibility that one has as an academic to offer quality in teaching performance (without affecting their health) which requires constant training, in addition to participate in external evaluation processes. The diverse roles that teachers play to seek the required quality implies physical, mental and emotional exhaustion; this implies an alteration in relation to an internal sustainability of academics. Addressing the imbalance of university professors from the vision of integral sustainability in human beings, requires to mantain the balance between the roles and systems that coexist in their daily lives.
