Incómodas pero indispensables de nombrar: violencias sexuales que viven niñas, niños y adolescentes en México
Abstract
The text you are about to read is a tribute to the work and findings of Gloria González-López during a research project on the dynamics of incestuous relationships and sexual violence that occur within some Mexican families, where girls, boys, and adolescents are victims. Although this study was conducted between 2005 and 2006, it is in 2019 that the book "Secretos de familia: incesto y violencia sexual en México" ("Family Secrets: Incest and Sexual Violence in Mexico") is published in Spanish. I share this review with the purpose of motivating you to read her work and promote it, as her conceptual, theoretical, and methodological contributions can be valuable for those of us dedicated to research and social intervention. Furthermore, it serves as a reference for understanding sexual violence as issues of power and gender. The content of this review is as follows: 1. I discuss how I came across the book, provide some information about it and the author. 2. I describe the structure and content of the book, offering some personal reflections. 3. I conclude by highlighting the significance and urgency of reading this work. Keywords: sexual violence; girls, boys, and adolescents; feminist sociology; Mexico.Downloads
