Abstract
This article is based on some preliminary results of the research "Between productive and reproductive work: experiences of women belonging to the rural community of Los Parajes, Cocula, Jalisco". It explores the experiences of young rural women in relation to work, finding that there are resistances and ruptures in the way young women experience work and how they perceive it in their mothers, as well as tension with the continuities in inequality associated with the historical sexual division of labor. The diversity of work performed by rural women is described in general terms, and through the words of the young women interviewed it is shown how their youthful condition is marked primarily by their being women in this context. Young rural women embody the transformations of rural life and experience as their own the contradictions of the entire territory in which they live. Key words: young women, sexual division of labor, rurality, ruptures, continuities.Downloads
